Justice Ministry to digitize services to enhance efficiency
Kuwait:
Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Nasser Al-Sumait
affirmed on Wednesday the ministry’s commitment to fully digitizing its services
in the near future, as part of its efforts to streamline procedures, improve the
business environment and offer advanced judicial services that meet the
expectations of citizens and residents.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during an
inspection tour of the new Palace of Justice, Minister Al-Sumait revealed that
the ministry is in the final stages of drafting legislation that will authorize
the complete transition to an electronic service system. “We are moving towards
an integrated digital transformation aimed at addressing long-standing
challenges and accelerating the delivery of services,” he said.
Al-Sumait highlighted the ministry’s partnership
with global technology leaders Google and Microsoft to implement two key
contracts that will support the transformation of its systems. He said the
ministry is focusing on three major areas: the first covers the registration and
filing of lawsuits, notifications, and fee payments; the second focuses on
streamlining litigation procedures and addressing delays in case presentations;
while the third — and most critical — concerns the enforcement and execution of
final court rulings.
The minister noted that his tour, accompanied by
senior officials and ministry leaders, aimed to assess the workflow across
various departments of the new Palace of Justice and identify any challenges
facing clients, litigants, and staff. He emphasized the importance of
continuously evaluating and improving services to ensure ease of access, timely
case resolution, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
Al-Sumait reiterated the ministry’s commitment to
upholding the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber
Al-Sabah, which call for facilitating government services and expediting
judicial procedures to safeguard the rights of all. “This visit reflects the
ministry’s approach to bringing justice closer to the people, improving
operational efficiency, and institutional performance,” he stated, adding that
efforts will continue to ensure the highest standards of quality and excellence.
The minister was accompanied during the visit by
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice Awatif Al-Sanad and Acting
Assistant Undersecretary Nouf Al-Qabandi. The tour included a review of
operational progress across various departments and discussions on
organizational measures being implemented to advance the ministry’s objectives.
Al-Sumait also met with several clients to hear their feedback and suggestions
and engaged with ministry employees to discuss the challenges they encounter and
explore proposals for enhancing the work environment.
